How to Link Trello with Google Calendar
Jul 31, 2023
Trello is a popular project management tool that helps individuals and teams organize tasks, projects, and workflows on visual boards. On the other hand, Google Calendar is a widely used online calendar service that allows users to schedule events, appointments, and reminders. Integrating these two powerful tools can streamline your productivity and ensure that your Trello tasks are seamlessly synced with your Google Calendar events. In this article, we'll guide you through the process of linking Trello with Google Calendar for a more efficient and organized workflow.
Enable the Trello Power-Up
Before you can connect Trello with Google Calendar, you need to enable the Google Calendar Power-Up within your Trello board. To do this, follow these steps:
Open the Trello board where you want to integrate Google Calendar.
Click on the "Show Menu" option located on the right side of the board.
In the menu, select the "Power-Ups" option.
Look for the Google Calendar Power-Up and click on the "Enable" button.
Authorize Trello to Access Google Calendar
Once the Google Calendar Power-Up is enabled, you'll need to authorize Trello to access your Google Calendar account. Follow these steps:
After enabling the Power-Up, a new "Calendar" option will appear on the right sidebar of your Trello board.
Click on the "Calendar" option, and then select "Authorize Account."
A pop-up window will prompt you to log in to your Google Account and grant Trello the necessary permissions.
Click "Allow" to give Trello access to your Google Calendar.
Sync Trello Cards with Google Calendar
With the authorization completed, it's time to start syncing your Trello cards with Google Calendar events:
Open a Trello card that you want to schedule as a Google Calendar event.
In the card's "Power-Ups" section, click on "Add to Calendar."
A new window will pop up, allowing you to set the event details, such as the event name, date, time, and description.
Once you've filled in the required details, click "Add to Calendar" to create the event.
Managing and Editing Calendar Events
Trello's integration with Google Calendar is a two-way sync, meaning changes made in either platform will reflect in the other. Here's how you can manage and edit calendar events:
In Trello, if you want to reschedule a task or edit an event's details, simply update the relevant card. The changes will automatically be reflected in Google Calendar.
In Google Calendar, locate the event you want to edit, and make the necessary changes. These edits will be synced back to the corresponding Trello card.
Removing the Google Calendar Power-Up
If, at any point, you decide to disconnect Trello from your Google Calendar, you can remove the Power-Up with ease:
On the Trello board, click on "Show Menu."
Go to the "Power-Ups" section.
Find the Google Calendar Power-Up and select "Disable."
Linking Trello with Google Calendar provides a powerful and convenient way to manage your tasks and events effectively. By following the steps outlined in this article, you can seamlessly integrate the two platforms, enabling you to stay on top of your schedule and boost your productivity. Whether you're a professional managing multiple projects or an individual aiming for better time management, this integration will prove to be an invaluable asset to your workflow.
